Race Report Stage 1 - Cambodia

The 7th GlobalLimits Cambodia - The Ancient Khmer Path - commenced today with runners from 17 countries. The start is located in a local Buddhist temple in the Kamphong Thom province. Local monks blessed our runners before the race started and in return, we pay respect to the country and listened Cambodia’s national anthem „Majestic Kingdom“.

The race course extends northward towards the ancient capital of Angkor (Siem Reap) through the ancient Khmer Path. The runners will experience running through and spending overnights in ancient temples of the Khmer Kingdom, local villages, waterfalls and schools in the next 6 days.

Running through the heart of Cambodia’s network of waterways adorned with beautiful lotus sanctuary on the side is an enchanting experience. As it is a Sunday, local families and children came to cheer for our runners.
In today‘s 32,3km stage.

Our race veteran, Stan Lee from Canada, in his 6th appearance, made use if his excellent knowledge of the course and led the race and finished in 3:25. He was followed by first time GlobalLimits runner Ita Marzotto from Italy. Canadian couple Michael Mueller and Kristine Self, both finished second in their respective category. Third male was Carlis Guerreiro of Portugal. Third woman was 4th time starter Teresa Lam from Hongkong.

All the runners arrived safely at our first camp in a remote village where they will share the traditional wooden houses with local families and prepare for tomorrow‘s 36km stage.
