Breaking News - Race Report Stage 3 - Sao Tome
Jungle trails, beautiful waterfalls, and happy villagers welcome the runners to the start of the 3rd stage of GlobalLimits SãoTomé - The Hemisphere Crossing. The 29km stage brings our runners along jungle trails, through beautiful valleys, cocoa plantations, and at the end to the seaside village of Aqua Ize near the famous Boca d‘Inferno.
Today there’s interesting change of the ranking. British runner Benjamin Rodgers won the stage beating Samuel Castela from Portugal by 7mins. 3rd today was Ineias Almeida from São Tomé.
Felipa Castela and Carolina Silva from Portugal were 1st and 2nd in the female category and Teresa Lam from Hongkong once again 3rd.
Samuel Castela took the lead in the overall male ranking ahead of Luizildo Diaz and Ineias Almeida. Between the 2nd and 4th are just 96sec.
Carolina Silva is still in overall lead at the female ranking but Filips Castela is now just 35mins behind.
Amy Paterson, our volunteer from the US, led a English/dance with 50 children from the village of Claudino Faro in the stage‘s check point 1.
Impressive run today by Argentinian Daniel Rearte finishing in 15th.
Claudia Bebens from São Tomé made history today, she is the first runner at a GlobalLimits race who finished a stage running barefoot.
After the stage, our runners camp in the village of Agua Ize and many went for a dip in the clear water. Hopefully the cool water relaxes their muscles and prepares them for tomorrow’s long stage of 59km.
