Race Report Stage 5 - Albania
We are getting closer! The second last stage of GlobalLimits Albania -The Hidden Treasure - started this morning at the ancient monastery of Mesopotam. After passing rolling hills, grassland and local villages, the runners arrived at checkpoint 3, where they climbed a 1100m high hill. At Check point 4, we have a wonderful panoramic view of the Ionian Sea and the finish line - Butrinti National Park. Tonight our runners stay by the lake in the village of Murci.
Close flight between overall leader Erin Drasler with Harri Washington today. Both were running most of the stage neck and neck today. Finally Erin gained a lead of 2 mins at the final decent winning the 44k stage in 5:26:52 ahead of Harri. Third toda ywas Christina Khinast followed by Teresa Lam. Overall male leader Arben Shati from Albania heavily suffered today with serious back pain, however he finished secend male and defended his overall lead. male winner today was Martin Dittberner followed by Eilon Amron.
Change in the overall female ranking seeing Harri Washington now in second position and Christina Khinast in third. Erin Drasler is still in a comfortable lead with 3hrs.
