Race Report Stage 5 - Albania

We are getting closer! The second last stage of GlobalLimits Albania - The Hidden Treasure started this morning at the ancient monastery of Mesopotan. After passing rolling hills, grassland and local villages,
the runners arrived at checkpoint 3, where they climbed the 1100m high hill and enjoyed the view of the landside of Murci valley. At the other side of the hill is the panoramic view of the Ionian Sea and the
finish line - Butrint.
The runners stay in tents by the lake in the village of Murci. They just enjoy an especially for GlobalLimits runners organized village festival with complementary Albanian dinner and traditional Albanian polyphonic dance performance.
Stage 5 of 44k was won by Frank Johansen in 4:05hrs ahead of Argy Papathanasopoulos in 4:13hrs and Manu Pastor of Spain who really enjoyed the climbs today.
Todays victory gave Frank Johansen a comfortable lead of 19mins before the last stage. Second is still Argy Papathanasopoulos ahead of Blgium runner Kurt Alderweireldt.
In the female category Leandra Kurtz from Switzerland is still in comfortable lead ahead of Austrian Christina Khinast and Cherrie Chung from Hongkong.
Tomorrow is the last stage where runners will run 14km to the UNESCO heritage site of Butrint.
