Breaking News: Race Report Stage 5 - Albania

We are getting closer! The 5tht stage of 44km of GlobalLimits Albania -The Hidden Treasure - started this morning at the ancient monastery of Mesopotan.

After passing beautiful rolling hills, grassland and local villages, our runners arrived at checkpoint 3, where they climbed the infamous "Wall" - a 4km uphill climb, which te overall leader William McMillen describes the climb as "hellish". At Check point 4, we have a wonderful panoramic view of the Ionian Sea and the finish line - Butrinti National Park.

Tonight our runners stay by the lake in the village of Murci.

Samuel Castela from Portugal showed his technical power today by winning the stage with a 18mins lead ahead of Stefan Kapellen from Germany. William Mcmillian from the UK gave a hard fight to defend his top ranking and finished in third male. Overall 2nd is still Samuel Castela and third Stefan Kapellen.

There's no change in the ranking in the female category with Filipa Castello from Portugal winning the stage again with a course record and now leading by an impressive 2:45hrs ahead of Christina Khinast. Teresa Lam from Hongkong stays at the third place.

Tomorrow is the last stage where runners will run 15km to the UNESCO world heritage site of Butrint.
