Breaking News - Race Report Stage 2 Bhutan

Fantastic warm and clear weather filled the scenery in dramatic light this morning. Stage 2 (29km)’s goal a large family home setting at the foot of the Thimphu Valley. The runners started with a gruelling and 19km scenic ascend to the Sinchula Pass at 3,400m, before descending to the camp i 2600m. The total ascent today was 2400m and descent 1700m.

Today is another tight race for the top runners. But the ranking has changed dramatically. Special mention is Jim Trueman who finished the stage in 5:34hrs, 14mins ahead of Mike Mueler from Canada. Third male was Philip Best from Australia.

Today’s female result: Winner of the stage and 3rd overall was Melissa Gildenhuys in an impressive 5:56hrs, second female: Akemi Ban from Japan and third Harri Washington from the UK.

The overall ranking changed totally. First male now is Jim Trueman, second Sascha Gramm from Germany and third Philip Best. Melissa Gildenhuys now overtook the overall lead. Akemi Ban is now second and Harri Washington third.
