In the presence of the Director of Sports of São Tomé and Príncipe, cheering locals and local school children singing the national anthem of the island, the 4th edition of GlobalLimits São Tomé - The Hemisphere Crossing - started in front of the historical hospital of Agostinho Neto plantation.

The first stage stage was 36,9km with a mix of various trails and water crossing. It was a hot, humid day but occasional breeze brought some delights to runners. A rain shower cools down the air in mid day.

Patrick Singh from Canada, who is the second time in the race, enjoyed the uphill section. Tada Schinichi from Japan, also enjoyed the green lush trail.
