Breaking News - Race Reporet Stage 5 - São Tomé

After a restful night on the beach, everyone began the 27.7km fifth stage refreshed. The first stop was for a signature photo in front of Pico Cão Grande, the needle-shaped mountain. Runners then followed the coast, passing villages and plantations, before reaching Praia Piscina, where they could rest, swim, and reconnect.

Men’s:

An interesting turn in ranking as Jackson Clementino slowed down dramatically due to muscle cramps while his compatriot, Vernalino sped up and won the stage today. Venalino claimed another 4 places from rank 5th overall now. Japan‘s Yuya kept his cool and stayed at the first overall place and Belgium Bjorn van Camp climbed up one place and is now second male overall.

First: Vernalino Carvalho/Sao Tomé

Second: Bjorn Van Camp/Belgium

Third: Yuya Takizawa/Japan

Women’s:

Claire Tevenet gave an impressive performance and won the stage today, followed by Teresa Lam from Hong Kong. Carmen Tyler stayed at her third position despite suffering from stomach problem.

Teresa is still in an comfortable overall lead ahead of Claire and Carmen

The last stage is 16,5km and the competition remains intense.
