Race Report Stage 2 - Albania 2022

We hope all runners had a good rest at the school. The morning is refreshing and chill and today’s stage is only 30,6km and we will be starting early and everyone could enjoy the views as we descend down the mountain (before heading up again). Yes, today we would be ascending another 1264m but a 1745m descent. It is going to be a really good day for those who enjoy technical downhill running. However, the finish line is not at the end of the long downhill but the end of a never-ending 2 km climb to the village of Peshtan - a traditional village with about 50 houses on the left bank of the Vjosa River. Here, we will be enjoying the Albanian hospitality and stay with local villagers and may even try homemade Albanien cuisines!

First today was local runner Arben Shati in 3:42h, his first stage win in his 3rd participation. Second overall and fastest woman was Erin Drasler from the US followed by second man Martin Dittberner from germany. Second woman today was Teresa Lam from Hongkong ahead of Harri Washington from the UK. 3rd man again was Eilon Amron from Israel.

No change in the overall female ranking with Erin Drasler in a comfortable lead ahead of Austrian Christina Khinast and Teresa Lam.

In the male category Arben Shati overtook the leading position from Martin Dittberner and Eilon Amron.

Tomorrow is the longest stage with 55km guiding the runners through the beautiful Zagoria Valley.
