Bhutan - stage 2
Todays stage 2 of 28,7km started at 7am at the Chorten Ngympo Monastery and ended at the Thimphu valley. After a total climb of 2500m runners passed the 3400m high Sinchula pass before a 10km downhill section with in total 17oom decline. Runners stay overnight in a local farmhouse.
First man was again Saudi Arabian Mo Foustok in 4:54h ahead of British runner William McMillan and Canadian Chris Hum. Impressive performance today from french Isabelle Dufour who overtook overall leader Marcia Zhou just before the top of the pass and finished first in 5:11h. Marcia finished second ahead of Chloe Onofrychuk who was leading on top of the pass.
Outstanding performance today from the 2 Bhutanese runners Yoedhen Tshering and Hemant Rai who finished 10th and 11th.
Tomorrows 3rd stage of 27,8k will finish at the 3600m high Phajoding monastery.
