Todays 2^nd stage of 36,2km started at 7am local time. All runner were in a good mood but afraid of the expected heat for today. Runners had to pass some local villages including one Muslim village, ran along streams and had to cross one river. Due to the lack of rain the last few days the water level was fortunately low, so runners could pass the river with dry feet. The final 3km went through an elephant sector, however on day time no elephant are expected to come out of the deep forest.

All runners have finished the stage and are relaxing now in local village houses.

The pace today was set my British runner Nathan Montague  again, winning the stage in 3:04hrs. Second rank today went to Sri Lankan marathon record holder Sanath Bandara who struggled yesterday with a harmstring. 3^rd today was South African Alwyn Maass.

Fastest woman was again Austrian Christina Khinast in 3:58 ahead of Cambodian Sophithida Kong and Spanish runner Maria Rotger.

In the overall ranking, Nathan Montague is still in lead, second now is Sanath Bandara ahead of Alwyn Maass. No change at the top 2 female ranking seeing Christina Khinast in lead and Sophithida Kong in second. Now third is Maria Rotger.

Another great run today from American Brian Smith in his first multi-day stage race finishing 6^th overall. Judith McQuillan who struggled yesterday in the heat took it easy today and was running most of the stage together with her brother James. The final 5km she started picking the pace up and finally finished ahead of her brother.

Tomorrows 40km stage will bring the runners up to the Ritigala Mountains Ruins before running down again to the camp.

Tomorrows 2^nd stage is planned with 36km finishing in a local village were runners enjoy a night when staying in the local village houses together with the family of the home.
