Breaking News - Race Report Stage 3 Cambodia

Today, the runners run along the Ancient Khmer Path during the long stage from the Preah Khan Temple in Vihear Province to the renowned Beng Mealea Temple (Total distance: 62.2km).

The runners ran the first 30km in the jungle - due to the recent heavy rainfalls in Cambodia, they had to cross many deep water holes/ muddy sections, which makes the race more challenging than the previous year.  The second section tested the patience of the runners - a straight line westwards to the finishing line.

Vincente Juan Garcia from Spain, the leading male from the previous stage, continues his efforts and winning the long stage in 6:15hrs.  Kurt Alderweirelt stays at the second place, finishing in 7:39hrs. Amazingly strong day by Canadian runner Stan Lee today finished third today in 8:06hrs, overtaking the third overall rank now from Gauillaume Degouret who suffered with knee problems today.

The female top three position remains unchanged, with Sally Ford finished first at an impressive 8:13hrs on her 40th birthday.  Second was Clare Mulleneger just 2 minutes behind Sally. Third rank went again to Teresa Lam from Hongkong in 9:08hrs.

All runners spend this night in tents inside the Beng Mealea temple, which served as film set for  the Indiana Jones movies.

Tomorrow is a much shorter stage at 29.5 km with finishing line at the Kulen Waterfall.
