Today was the most scenic day on the elephant trail.   Participants ran 30.9km around the shore of the beautiful Kandalama Lake, with stunning views of both the water and mountains.   It was another hot day, but an overcast breezy start was welcomed by the runners.   The finish was at a campsite in the middle of the jungle, where locals made bonfires to keep elephants away at night. 

Despite suffering in the heat, Nathan Montague continued the lead arriving first.  He was closely followed by Xavi Marina from Spain, who got faster as the stage progressed, and he finished within a few minutes of Nathan.  In the third place today was Jaume Teres from Spain who the entire todays stage together with Xavi Marina. Ash Balachandran from Great Britain had a strong day and finished 6^th, breaking into the overall top ten.  In female category, Christina Khinast was the winner again today, in front of the Spanish runner Maria Rotger and Cambodias Sophiethida Kong . Todays truly impressive performance was by  Jessica Roper who nearly overtook the 3^rd placed Sophiethida Kong, finishing just a minute behind her. Also there was a great performance by Judith McQuillan from Ireland who put a heatstroke on day 1 behind her and looked absolutely fresh.

All the runners were in good spirits at camp this evening where a spectacular sunset danced across the sky as everyone enjoyed their last night together.   Tomorrow will be 13.5km to the finish on top of World Heritage Site Sigiriya Rock followed by an awards ceremony at Amaya Hotel.
