The 6am start of Stage 2 of the Ancient Khmer Path gave some runners a welcome cool first ten km along the tree lined laterite road. Total distance for the day was 36 km.

Jill Hamill maintained her overall lead, finishing first again. Femi Coppi held onto a strong overall second, with Australian Dion Leonard finishing third overall and first man to finish. Dion moves up the male overall ranking into second place so far for both stages. British Thomas Watson had a strong day again finishing second male. Johannes Mohr of Austria took the third male place. Third female today was again fellow Austrian Christina Khinast-Sittenthaler, finishing in overall fourth place.

All finishers crossed the line in front of the ancient Angkorian temple Preah Khan, then cooled off on the many ancient stones in front of the gateway.

Special mention today goes to Canadian Yaneisy Montero Urdanivia who ran a strong race today, moving up the ranking to 22^nd place, and finishing with a smile. Fellow Canadian resident Lorraine Wilkinson showed similar grit after taking a tumble 3km in but continuing on regardless.

Tonight the runners will sleep in tents in front of the temple before tomorrow embarking on the longest stage of the race, 62km to Prasat Beng Mealea Temple.
