Breaking News Cambodia 2014
A record number of 43 runners from 20 different nations started today the 3rd edition of The Ancient Khmer Path. After an emotional startceremony where young monks were blessing the runners and the national anthem of the hosting country of Cambodia was played, the runners started at 8am local time the first stage of 30,8km. High temerature without any wind required all resources of the runners. All runners have finished the stage and are now at the camp in a local village where they stay in local pricate houses.
Fastest runner was Mo Foustok from Saudi Arabia in an impressive time of 2:24hrs ahead of 2012 champion Salvador Calvo from Spain in 2:41. 3rd place went to Canadian Mark Tamminga in 3:05hrs.
The fastest female runner was Olya Korzh from Russia, finishing fourth overall in 3:05hrs by local Cambodian star Nary Li in 3:21hrs. Unexpected strong performance from Austrian Christina Khinast-Sittentahler in 3:21hrs just seconds behind Nary.
Tomorrows stage will start at 6am and is going to be 37km.
