Breaking News - final stage Cambodia 2013
The final stage today was named the “Stan Lee Stage” to honor the birthday of Canadian runner Stan Lee. Not unexpected he won this final stage just ahead of the other runners who mostly run the entire stage together in groups to enjoy the last 16,7km of 220 in total and view the ancient temples of the Angkor area along the course.
Runners had to pass the Ta Phrom temple, enter the east gate of Angkor Thom, pass the terrasse of the elephants, run around the famous Bayon temple, leaving Angkor Thom through the impressive South gate before entering the world heritage site of Angkor Wat.
The emotional finish was just in front of the spectacular main temple of Angkor Wat. All runners have finished the stage today and are now at the 5***** Sokhalay Angkor Villa Resort before joining the award ceremony tonight at the pool.
Impressive 97% of the runners have finished this stage race seeing Stephan Vernay as the overall winner followed by last years champion Salvador Calvo from Spain and Australian Shane Rattenbury.
Overall female winner is Veronique Messina followed by Clementine Tanguide, both from France. Third woman overall is Britain Georgina Ayre.
