Breaking News - Stage 5

After a joined dinner last night at the Kulen Waterfalls the 5th stage today started at 6am local time.

Another tough stage with 44km were ahead of the runners, but the the stage was one of the most spectacular stages with great scenerys . A steep climb to the Ta Aek Hill had to be ran before running through an ancient temple on top of the hill.

As the top runners have not expected a change in the overall ranking anymore, Stephan Vernay and Salva Calvo run the entire stage together and finished in 4:14. Third place went again to Australian Rattenbury in 4:36 defending his third overall ranking.

Impressive performance today from Clementine Tanguide who run together with overall leader Veronique Messina until checkpoint 3 but then pushed very hard the steep climb and finished the race in 4:43 just 2 min ahead of Veronique. As the days before ever smiling Georgina Ayre finished the stage as third and has underlined her 3rd overall position.

Unexpected strong day by Angie van Bemden from the US who ran the previous stages in behind but finished today as 13nd. Also great performance today by Bety Camiade from Mexico and Marilena Wilkinson from Venezuela finishing ahead of most male runners today. Ongoing improvement of her performance by Deborah Koh from Singapore who have finished 14nd and having improved her overall position by 2 ranks.

All runners have arrived in the camp now and expecting the final short stage og 16,7km tomorrow with a spectacular finish at the world heritage site Angkor Wat.
