Race update Cambodia - Stage 5
Race Update Stage 5 - Cambodia 2014:
today's stage of 44,8km started at 6am local time at the Kulen Waterfalls. Runners ran downhill for about 12km, having an spectacular view to the valley. Runners enjoyed passing rice field, local villages and hundreds of palmtrees. After checkpoint 3 runners were faced a steep climb up to the Tak Ae hill. On top of the hill they run through an ancient temple ruin and had a breathtaking view across the country. Finish today was in a local school where runners stay on the schoolyard overnight.
First male was again Mo Foustok in 4:18, just 6 minutes ahead of Salvador Calvo. Third place went again to Stan Lee in 5:58.
Joined female winner of stage 5 were Austrian Christina Khinast and Russian Olya Korzh in 5:57. Joined third were Cambodian Nary Ly and Irish Ruthann Sheahan finishing to gether with Stan Lee.
Strong performance today from Andy and Richard Turner from Australia, rolling up the field from behind and finishing jointly as 9th.
No changes in the overall ranking, still in lead Mo Foustok ahead of Salva Calvo and Stan Lee in the men classement and Olya Korzh ahead of Christina Khinast and Nary Ly in the female ranking.
Tomorrows final stage starts at 6am local time and will finish after 16,7km inside the world heritage site, the Angkor Wat temple.
