Breaking News - Race Report Stage 1 - Cambodia
After an emotional start ceremony where monks were blessing the runners , the 5th Ancient Khmer Path started today at 7am local time in front of a remote Buddhist temple.
All runners were in a good mood and really excited to start the adventure.
From the beginning on the Spanish favorite Vicente Juan Garcia set an impressive speed and won the 30,6km stage in 2:14hrs. Second was Belgium runner Kurt Alderweirelt in 2:39 ahead of the first female runner Claire Mulleneger from Great Britain in 2:56hrs just 22 seconds ahead of second female runner, Sally Ford also from Great Britain.
Third male was Guillaume Degoulet from France and third female Teresa Lam from Hongkong.
All runners now have finished the first stage and stay overnight in private village houses.
Tomorrow's second stage is planned with 36km.
