Breaking News - Race Report Final Stage Sri Lanka

The final stage of the 2nd Wild Elephant Trail ended today  with an emotional finish on top of the World Heritage Site, the Sigiriya Rock.

After 13km the runners had to climb up the 1860steps to the top of the rock, running a loop on top before crossing the finishing line. Blue sky and the entire GlobalLimits crew welcomed the brave runners after a total of 210km in 6 days.

Overall winner is British national team runner Nathan Montague in 19:10hrs well ahead of Spanish runner Xavi Martina in 20:41hrs. Xavi won the final stage in an impressive 1:05hrs. Third overall was David Mora from Spain.

Overall female winner is Austrian Christina Khinast. Christina was already twice on the podium at GlobalLimits Cambodia - The Ancient Khmer Path in Cambodia, but this is her first overall victory. Second overall is Sophithida Kong from Cambodia ahead of Maria Rotger from Spain.

The race saw a lot of first time starters in a multi-stage race with Jessica Roper, Brian Smith,  Beth Carr and Judith McQuillan, All have finished the race. The race finished with an outstanding finisher quote of 93%.
