Stage 3 of the Ancient Khmer Path was a long tough hot day for all the runners. There was a split start with the top 8 ranked runners starting an hour after the rest of the field. The first 30km was through remote dry forest along grassy and rutted trails. Race staff had gone the night before to a village close to the checkpoints in order to be able to get into the checkpoints by local tractor in time to greet the runners. Total km for the day was 62.2km, in extreme heat.

Once again Jill Hamill came in a strong first. In second place was Thomas Watson, also having a strong day and moving up into first male overall.

Special mention today goes to Kong Sophithida, a novice ultra runner from Cambodia, who seems to be getting faster day by day. She finished sixth overall today, fourth female, which now puts her into fourth female place overall. Also to the inspirational Malaysian Tan Tah Ming who spent over 16 hours out on the course, keeping a steady pace and a good humor.

Camp was at the ancient temple of Beng Mealea. This spectacular scenery was used as the backdrop for the movie Indiana Jones.

Stage 4 will start from in front of the temple and finish at the sacred site of Phnom Kulen waterfall.
