LOCATION & WEATHER
Location and facts
GlobalLimits Eswatini – The Swazi Highland Trail takes you on a 230 km journey through the Kingdom of Eswatini, one of Southern Africa’s most fascinating and least-explored destinations.
Eswatini is Africa’s last absolute monarchy. It is bordered by South Africa to the north, west and south, and Mozambique to the east.
Weather
Eswatini's climate is strongly influenced by altitude, and conditions can vary considerably throughout the race.
The race takes place during September, when you can expect generally sunny weather during the day and cooler conditions at night. In the higher elevations, particularly around Bulembu and Emlembe, temperatures can be slightly cooler, especially in the early morning and evening.
Day temperture is expected to be at 15 - 25 degree and night temperature can drop to 5 - 10 degree.
Mountain weather can change quickly. Participants should be prepared for sunshine, wind, rain and sudden changes in temperature, particularly at higher elevations.
Where to Meet
Our journey begins at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, one of Eswatini’s pioneering conservation areas and a spectacular setting for the start of the race.
Located in the Ezulwini Valley, Mlilwane is surrounded by mountains, open grasslands and abundant wildlife. It is the perfect place to gather before setting off on your 230 km journey through the Kingdom of Eswatini.
